Awajún Pottery Collection - 3 rich bowls
Beautiful handmade miniature Awajún ceramic pottery bowls, painted with a pattern representing a basket. This is a beautifully colored set of three bowls, one larger and two scaled to be soup or meal bowls. Very rich coloring and carbonation. These are sample pieces from our very first meeting! Your purchase will enable this work to continue, and to reach the next level of detail and perfect scale.
In 2021 the Awajún process of making ceramics was inscribed onto the UNESCO list of Intangible World Heritage. This elegant process includes many steps of making pottery only from materials found in the rainforest, and marked with patterns referring to the nature around the community. This gorgeous piece is larger and so works well as a display or fruit bowl; it works well in a dollhouse kitchen or dining room setting, or display item in any other room. Entirely handmade, fired outdoors.
Typical diameter of the smallest pieces: 13/16”
