The burden basket is a very special addition to our gallery! Flora Rodriguez, Ashaninka, is a curandera and esteemed member of the Ashaninka artisan community from the Peruvian - Brazilian border. She has made these baskets precisely to tradition. There are two fibers employed here: tambshi (the basket) and the topa soga (the part that goes around the head), which may be made of any number of fibers. NOTE: the burden baskets currently available employ braided bonbonaje in place of the guruma shown in the photos.
Approximate dimensions not including the head piece:
Height: 1.5”
Width: 1.25”
