Miniature Toucan Macaw Butterfly Tablero

A tablero is a large painted board that one often sees in and around Ticuna communities. It is unique to the community and usually features animals and ideas! Sometimes they are used to post announcements but more often it marks part of the gateway to the community. They are built like this, with multiple panels of wood and a frame. These tableros were made by Josue Vento Ramos in Progreso, Amazonas, Colombia. Josue has a very distinctive painting style.

This tablero features a blue and gold macaw, toucan, and butterfly.
