Fascinating and solemn seated monkey figure by Runin, ‘Leydy’ Panduro. I like how this piece has been slightly darkened by the firing process. The Panduros are well known in Peru for their art. The process is completely traditional, with clay dug from the earth, blended with apachrama, formed and fired in an outdoor flame. All the color is rock pigment.
